MAIKERVUE YONGPAO
Maikervue Yongpao is a Hmong fashion designer born in Laos. Growing up in an unfavorable environment, she once gave up on her dream of becoming a designer. However, her life changed after moving to the United States, where new opportunities reopened that path. Now she is pursuing her education at MCTC. In the past year, she has showcased her work at Hmong fashion events in Minnesota, including Fresh Tradition and the Hmong 50 Years Celebration.
Her collection focuses on versatility and sustainability. To encourage a mindset of reusing clothes, she designed adaptable clothing patterns. This allows her to create multiple looks from a single piece, giving each outfit more meaning and lasting value.
